Charles Wells buys 10 pubs from Traditional Freehouses
Bedfordshire's Charles Wells Pub Company has acquired 10 new pubs in a £9m deal with Traditional Freehouses.
The acquisition brings the company's pub estate to 260 pubs and extends its geographic reach away further from its traditional heartland with new locations in Oxfordshire, Warwickshire and Staffordshire.
All of the new boozers will be operated under lease agreements.
Five of the pubs feature letting accommodation, an area identified by Charles Wells as an expansion goal across the estate into the future.
Anthony Wallis, managing director of Charles Wells, said: "The outlets complement our strategy of investing in food-led pubs with letting rooms which provide retailers with profitable and sustainable businesses."
Last year the firm set up a joint brewing venture, the Wells and Young's Brewing Company.
