Strong Christmas trading boosts Conran Restaurant sales

Conran Restaurants Limited (CRL) enjoyed a strong Christmas trading period with last month's like-for-like sales 12% ahead of December 2005.

In its first financial update since the management team led buyout of the company in September 2006, like-for-like sales, which exclude new openings, were also 13% ahead for the quarter ended 31 December 2005.

For the nine months of its financial year starting 1 April 2006, CRL claims like-for-like turnover is 10% ahead of 2005.

Des Gunewardena, chairman and chief executive of CRL, said: "This was the best Christmas we have had for years. We had strong revenues both in the City and in the West End."

Conran will reveal its new company name in March.
