Silver has been employed to blitz the bugs that can affect the performance of Everpure's Pre-coat range of water filtration systems for the food service sector. Everpure has incorporated the AgION anti-microbial protection system from the USA into its seven-strong range of Micro-Pure II filter cartridges. The AgION solution inhibits the growth of bacteria, mould and fungus which can prematurely clog the filter systems and generate bad tastes and odours. The slow-release treatment lasts for the full life of the cartridges, which themselves reduce chlorine, filter out particles as small as half a micron, and reduce asbestos fibres and food-poisoning cysts such as Cryptosporidium and Giardia. Silver is one of the only anti-microbials to be registered as safe for contact with food and water by the European Food Safety Authority.
