The Macdonald Randolph Hotel achieves five-star status

(24 January 2007 15:20)

Macdonald’s Randolph Hotel has become the only AA-rated, five-star hotel in Oxford’s city centre.

The Randolph has beaten local rivals Malmaison, The Oxford Spires Four Pillars and Cotswold lodge hotel to five-star status, and has become only the second five star–rated property in the Scottish hotel group’s portfolio.

The award recognises both the hotel’s high service standards and the intensive investment in the property which includes last year’s addition of a luxury spa.

Peter Birnie, AA’s chief hotel inspector said:  “Inspections over the past few years have witnessed the Macdonald Randolph Hotel develop excellent all round standards of service and investment. The award of five-stars in any hotel signifies a landmark in its development.”

The rating follows a two-year £160m investment programme by the group to refurbish existing portfolio and create new facilities.
