London's St Stephen's Club up for sale at £5.5m
One of London's oldest private members' clubs has been put on the market with a £5.5m price tag.
The St Stephen's Club in Queen Anne's Gate, Westminster is the 20th oldest club in the capital, and has been owned by James Wilson and Myra Jauncey since 2003.
The Grade II-listed property is arranged over five floors with the top three floors used as office space. Historically, the club, which counts Benjamin Disraeli amongst its founding fathers would have the chairman of the Conservative party as club president.
Alex Sturgess, associate at property agents Knight Frank Hotels, which is handling the sale, said the club could be bought as an ongoing business or as an opportunity for a change of use, subject to planning consent.
He added: "St Stephen's Club is almost unique amongst the ‘Gentlemen's Clubs' of London as it is a proprietary rather than a mutual business."
