Compass Group wins £34m Guildford Spectrum contract

The world's largest caterer Compass Group has signed a 10-year, £34m contract to provide services at Guildford's Spectrum leisure complex.

Spectrum hosts 1.8 million visits per annum and has four swimming pools, an Olympic-size ice rink, a 32-lane bowling alley and an athletics stadium.

Compass Group will add and refurbish existing facilities as part of the deal introducing a new Costa coffee bar, two themed sports bars and a refurbished Burger King.

"Hawkers" will also serve drinks and snacks to the public and sports events held at the 2,000 capacity ice arena, home to the Guildford Flames, and the 1,500 capacity sports arena, where the Heat basketball team play.

Compass is also planning to make use of its events' caterer Payne and Gunter experience to provide additional hospitality services, including private boxes over-looking the ice rink.
