Tussauds to open hotel next to Chessington World of Adventures
Visitor attraction operator The Tussauds Group has agreed a deal with Intercontinental Hotels Group (IHG) to operate a £15m four-star hotel next to Chessington World of Adventures in Surrey under the Holiday Inn brand.
The 150-room Holiday Inn will be located in the centre of the theme park's planned animal land development, and has been designed with ‘safari' touches to reflect its location.
It will feature larger than average high spec rooms, conference, meeting and function rooms; health and leisure facilities; and a restaurant and bar.
Bruce McKendrick, Tussauds' managing director for theme parks, said: "This is a very exciting project for The Tussauds Group underlining our strategic commitment to developing our theme park attractions as short break destinations.
"This is our third hotel to date; and with many of our other sites also having suitable space for development, we see hotels as an important new long-term revenue stream for the Group.
"The link with Holiday Inn will open up great opportunities for us to benefit from their established marketing and promotional activities to build this important additional business; as well as our more established leisure packages," he added.
Tussauds Group also owns Madame Tussauds, the London Eye, Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Warwick Castle.
