Christmas trading gives Regent Inns a boost

Turnover at Regent Inns, owner of the Walkabout, Jongleurs, Bar Risa and Old Orleans brands, increased by 10.9% for the 26 weeks ended 30 December, the company has announced.

The results include the 15 weeks trade for Old Orleans, which was acquired in September, although not New Year's Eve. As a result, first half profit was reduced by £500,000

In current trading, like-for-like sales increased 3.4% for the six weeks to 6 January following strong trading over the Christmas period.

Bob Ivell, executive chairman, said: "We are pleased that our high profile brands have been steered successfully through the most significant licensing changes for over 100 years.

"Whilst the 12 months following these changes have presented significant challenges, our brands are well-positioned to continue providing a safe and fun environment for customers, and to deliver good returns for shareholders."
