Duchy Catering buys Hopkinson Catering

Duchy Catering has purchased Hopkinson Catering after the latter was placed into administration last week.

The deal, first revealed on Kitchen Rat](http://www.kitchenrat.com/2007/02/hopkinson-catering-takeover-complete.html), handled by financial services company KPMG, creates an independent caterer with a combined turnover nearing £20m with more than 110 contracts.

Duchy's managing director, Andrew Howarth, said: "The talent, appetite and passion of the combined teams will enable us to provide services that continue to exceed client expectations."

Howarth added the acquisition of Midlands caterer Hopkinson, which has headquarters in Leamington Spa, would help it to extend its reach from Yorkshire and the north of England further into the South of the country.

Hopinkson Catering founders Frank and Fiona will be retained with the business as part of the deal.
