Peter Lederer re-elected as VisitScotland chairman

Peter Lederer has been re-elected as chairman of VisitScotland for a further three years.

Lederer, the managing director of Gleneagles hotel in Auchterarder, Perthshire, has been chair of the tourist board since 2001.

The new appointment will see him continue in the role from 1 April 2007 to 31 March 2010.

This part-time post pays £23,064 for a time commitment of one-and-a-half to two days per week.

VisitScotland, which has an annual budget of around £60m, has been tasked with growing tourism revenues by 50% by 2015.

Patricia Ferguson, Minister for Tourism, Culture and Sport at the Scottish Executive, said: “Mr Lederer has an extremely strong proven record as the current chair of VisitScotland and has an excellent understanding of the Scottish tourism industry.”
