Operators encouraged to add donation to customers bill for Hospitality Action and Springboard
Operators are being encouraged to add a voluntary donation to customer's bills for any period of time during 2007 as part of a fundraising initiative launched by Hospitality Action and Springboard UK.
The Spring 2 Action campaign marks the first time the two charities have joined forces.
Contributions to the campaign will help Springboard equip young, unemployed and disadvantaged people with the skills, support and confidence needed to secure worthwhile employment in the hospitality industry.
Contributions will help Hospitality Action to provide financial aid to those in the hospitality industry who, through no fault of their own, have fallen on hard times.
Donations will also support the work that both charities are doing to educate people in the industry about the perils of drink and drug addiction.
Penny Moore, Hospitality Action's chief executive, said: "By simply asking customers to donate a small amount of money on their bill, we can work towards creating a better working environment, culture and future for all those people involved in the hospitality industry.
"By working together our charities can make sure that the money raised is equally spread and used where it is needed the most."
Chef restaurateur Brian Turner is backing the campaign. "Both of our industry charities work hard to help people who are disadvantaged to help themselves and get a better life," he said. "Your small contribution will help them do great things. Thank you for your support."
