Top London hotels pose health hazard

(26 March 2007 14:35)

A number of luxury hotels in London have been exposed over instances of a lack of cleanliness that were described by environmental inspectors as a “serious danger to health”.

The Observer obtained environmental health reports from Westminster Council which named the Savoy, the Halkin, the Langham and the Dorchester as offenders.

A potential source of Legionnaire's disease was found in taps and air conditioning, dangerous pathogens were discovered in baths and bacteria were found in pools and spas, the newspaper said.

The disclosure of problems came after it was revealed that an American lawyer and his wife are seeking millions of dollars in compensation for being traumatised by bedbugs at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park Hotel.
