Crerar Hotels swoops for Swallow brand
Scottish hotel group Crerar Hotels will continue to use the Swallow brand name, following the acquisition of 26 properties.
The group will continue to operate its six Crerar hotels alongside the Swallow properties, which are located throughout England and Scotland.
Chief executive, Paddy Crerar, said: "Swallow has been a successful hotel brand for more than 30 years. Like all household names there are inevitable peaks and troughs but over time the qualities of the brand have remained steady."
He added that the recent collapse of London and Edinburgh Swallow Inns had been due to the group's financial model, rather than the quality of the stock, which remained high.
In a separate move, Crerar has appointed two new directors to the group's board. Peter Bech, formerly of Grand Metropolitan Hotels and Whitbread hotels has been appointed as director of operations, while Russell Hynd, who was previously in the sport and leisure sector of the Corsie Group, has been named chief financial officer.
John Wilson, formerly group operations director, has been promoted to managing director, with overall responsibility for Crerar hotels, Crerar Management and short breaks company Easybreaks.
Crerar now comprises 33 properties.
