IHG to launch Holiday Inn Express in Honduras
InterContinental Hotels Group is to launch the Holiday Inn Express brand in Honduras. The company is to build a 104-room hotel in San Pedro Sula, marking its fourth property in the central American country. The hotel, which will be housed in an 11-storey building, is scheduled to open in September 2008. It will be owned by Desarrollos Monumentales, under a license agreement with IHG. The company currently has three properties in Honduras including the Real InterContinental San Pedro Sula, the Real InterContinental Tegucigalpa and the Holiday Inn San Pedro Sula.

Ritz-Carlton to expand Indonesian portfolio The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company is to expand its Indonesian portfolio with the opening of a new property in December 2008. The Ritz-Carlton Bintan will feature 60 villas as well as a meeting hall that can accommodate up to 600 people. Currently, Ritz-Carlton operates The Ritz-Carlton Bali resort & spa and The Ritz-Carlton Jakarta. Furthermore, the company plans to open The Ritz-Carlton, Jakarta, Pacific Place in late 2007.

Starwood opens two hotels in JapanStarwood is to expand its portfolio in Asia with the opening of two new hotels in Japan. The 492-room Sheraton Miyako in Tokyo will feature five restaurants, a health spa as well as more than 9,800sq ft of meeting space, a wedding chapel and a Japanese wedding hall. The 575-room Sheraton Miyako Hotel Osaka will include seven restaurants, 1,300sq ft of meeting space, a health club, three wedding chapels and wedding halls. Both hotels will be re-flagged this month with rooms featuring LCD flat-screen televisions, walk-in showers and wireless high-speed internet access.

Marriott expands Dubai offer
Marriott International is to launch a new hotel in Dubai with the opening of the Renaissance Dubai Marina hotel in 2010. the 300-room hotel, which will form part of a one million sq ft mixed use development called Bay Central, will include three restaurants including two speciality eateries as well as a lounge and lobby bar and an entertainment bar with outdoor seating. The hotel will also include a spa, health club, sauna and outdoor swimming pool. Conference facilities will include meeting and board rooms as well as a 8,000sq ft ballroom.

Rotana Hotels opens new property in UEA Rotana Hotels is to launch a new hotel in the United Arab Emirates with the opening of the Fujairah Rotana resort & spa in July this year. The 250-room five-star property will include an outdoor swimming pool, sauna and steam room, fitness centre and a variety of sports facilities. It will also feature meeting and conference facilities as well as a number of restaurants. Its dedicated spa will offer a range of treatments including beauty and body treatments.
