London's Great Eastern to be rebranded an Andaz hotel

London's Great Eastern Hotel will be the first Hyatt property to be reflagged under its new lifestyle brand Andaz.

The concept, which focuses on personal style, independence and environmentally friendly features, will be rolled out throughout several hotels this year in key cities including New York, Beijing and Moscow.

The Great Eastern refurbishment will cost £5m and will see a total rebrand of its four restaurants and the addition of a new special private dining residents' concept.

The hotel is due to be completed for a relaunch by September.

Clifford Grauers, general manager at the Great Eastern, said: "The hotel already fulfils some of the points of the Andaz concept. The hotel did not fit easily into the existing Hyatt brand and but it will fit in nicely with this new brand. It's very exciting to be the first in a new brand and I look forward to opening in this new style."

In the big apple, Hyatt has earmarked its new property on 5th Avenue and 41st Street to become Andaz hotel.

According to the luxury hotel group, the brand will "offer highly functional environment characterised by sophistication, innovative design, local identity, casual elegance and service that is attentive but not pretentious and without ‘attitude'."

Hyatt president and chief executive officer, Mark Hoplamazian, added: "Hyatt is uniquely well suited to bring this new brand to life because style, authenticity and great service without attitude are attributes that are part of Hyatt's culture and heritage."
