Manchester’s Lowry hotel has appointed Jason Harding, as its new general manager.

Harding, 35, was previously the general manager of the Lowry’s sister hotel St David’s in Cardiff, before its sale last month.

He said of his appointment: “It’s fantastic, I’m really pleased to be back here. It’s changed in the four years I’ve been away so at the moment I just re-learning it, but I want to maintain and enhance our position in the city. 

“We’re already recognised as the best hotel with the best service delivery but we are facing increasing competition and I want to extend our gap.”

Originally starting out in London as a carpenter, Harding has worked for Hilton, Trusthouse Forte before starting an eight-year career with RF Hotels encompassing stints at Browns and The Balmoral. He then spent a year at the Lowry as resident manager before moving to St David’s.

The Lowry, which was put up for sale at the same time as St David’s is expected to be taken off the market shortly after offers were only forthcoming for the management contract and building, not the property alone, as RF Hotels had made clear they wanted to retain the management contract.
