Marriott managers muck in to clean up London’s River Thames

(25 April 2007 16:09)

Marriott managers and staff joined forces with environmental charity Thames 21 last week to clear litter from the River Thames as part of the hotel group’s environmental awareness month.

The clean up took place on the Thames foreshore at County Hall next to the London Eye and the volunteers cleared more than one tonne of river rubbish.

Items found included a gold engraved wedding band, a toy car and toy guitar, sunglasses, old coins, a crowd control barrier and a wrist watch.

Stuart Bowery, general manager of London Marriott County Hall said: "Marriott International has a long standing commitment to the environment, and this is another great way for us to expand our green efforts at the community level."
