ISS Mediclean, the healthcare division of ISS Group, has entered the school meals market by snapping up specialist contract caterer Caterhouse.

Established in 1993 by directors Tom Seery and Sandra Fawcett, Caterhouse prepares lunches for more than 40,000 children in over 200 schools in London and the South-east.

Simon Cox, managing director of ISS Mediclean, said: “Caterhouse has a superb reputation for providing healthy options in school catering, taking their responsibilities very seriously.”

Seery said the backing of ISS would allow Caterhouse, which has 850 staff, to the next stage of its development.

• Business and industry caterer ISS Eaton, formed in March 2004 by ISS’s take over of Eaton Group, recently appointed Simon Titchener, previously managing director of London and group business and industry accounts at rival Aramark, as managing director. Titchener replaced Rebecca Thomas who was promoted to commercial director for the ISS integrated services division.
