Compass Group owned Scolarest has signed a £1.25m, three-year contract to supply ten Merseyside Primary schools with more than 1,000 meals every lunchtime.

The contact caterer will also launch its "putting fun back into food" initiative to encourage pupils to eat a balanced diet involving nutrition workshops, cookery competitions and menu tasting at all 10 schools.

“We are delighted to have been chosen by these 10 schools to deliver healthy menus which meet both nutritional standards and provide pupils with great tasting food,” said Scolarest managing director Tony Sanders,

The win comes a month after Scolarest was dumped in the North London borough of Islington from a £5m a year, three-year contract, after pressure from parents over the quality of school meals served.
