Sodexho Alliance appoints new man to head up North American operations

Caterer and facilities management company Sodexho Alliance has promoted George Chavel to the position of president and chief executive of its North American operation.

Chavel, who is currently president of the company's US Health Care division, succeeds Richard Macedonia, who is retiring after 39 years with Sodexho.

Group chief executive Michel Landel said of the appointment: "George Chavel has made a very strong contribution to Sodexho's success in the USA. George has a wealth of knowledge about what it takes to succeed in food and facilities management services in North America."

Chavel began his career at auditors Arthur Anderson and joined Sodexho's $2.5b (£1.3b) North American healthcare division in 1992 after seven years in franchising in the fast-food restaurant market.
