The Old Inn at Crawfordsburn has been named Hotel of the Year 2007 by the Northern Ireland Tourist Board, at a ceremony in Belfast last night.

Speaking at the event tourism minister Nigel Dodds congratulated the Old Inn and other category winners on their success and said while tourism in the country was thriving much remained to be done.

“Confidence in the industry is high with hotel occupancy in 2006 reaching record levels and over 28,000 jobs created. While such results are encouraging, Northern Ireland is starting from a very low base and there is still much work to be done,” Dodds said.

Cairn Bay Lodge in Bangor was named bed and breakfast/guesthouse of the year while the hospitality award went to Balloo House Killinchy.
