LACA School Chef of the Year 2007 revealed

Lynnette Tinney has been named the Local Authority Caterers Association (LACA) School Chef of the Year 2007.

She beat six other regional finalists to the title at a cook-off event held last week at the Birmingham College of Food, Tourism & Creative Studies and sponsored by Nestlé Foodservices.

Tinney, 43, is employed by Derbyshire Country Council and works at Coton-in-the-Elms Church of England primary school in Swadlincote.

Highly commended main course went to Suzanne Duncan from Irvine Royal Academy, North Ayrshire.

Highly commended desert course went to Karen Griffiths from Ashton West End Primary, Tameside.

Tinney’s winning menus:

• Main menu: Coton Catch – marinated salmon fillet pan seared with seasonal salad and pitta bread
• Desert menu: Ros-Berry Twist – apples, pears and summer berries with honey and yoghurt encased in bread
