Michael Broadbent has been named as honorary president of the Wine & Spirit Education Trust (WSET).

Broadbent takes on his role in August of this year and has more than 50 years of experience in the wine industry.

Since 1986 Broadbent has been president of the International Wine and Food Society and the Master of Wine has also worked as director of the wine department at London auction house Christie’s, which he retired from in the 1990s.

Broadbent said: “I’m delighted to be honoured in this way. The WSET, its core values and its drive to deliver wine and spirit education to the very highest of standards the world over, are central to the continued growth of the industry.”
