Police are investigating extremist threats made against celebrity chefs Rick Stein and Jamie Oliver by radical Cornish activists.
The chefs, who both have substantial interests in the north Cornwall area, have come under fire from the Cornish National Liberation Army for being English.
In an e-mail to the Plymouth-based Western Morning News, the group claimed they had been approached by local people who held the chefs in contempt and that their restaurants and customers were “bona fide targets for our activists.”
The group accuse Oliver and Stein of causing local house price inflation and increases in costs of living at the expense of the local Cornish population.
Devon and Cornwall Police said they took the threats "very seriously” and would investigate “vigorously” any threats or criminal activity.
Stein has a hotel and several restaurants, including a fish and chip shop, in Padstow, while Oliver recently set up a branch of his charitable restaurant Fifteen at Watergate Bay to train disadvantaged youngsters from the region.
