Wyndham brand enters UK market with reflagging of London’s Conrad Hotel

US hotel chain, Wyndham Hotel Group, has announced its first property in the UK will be the conversion of The Conrad hotel in London’s Chelsea harbour.

The five-star, all-suite, 160-unit hotel, currently run by Hilton, will see Wyndham take over the management of the property under a 20-year agreement with owner Blue Harbour 2.

The property will be renamed the Wyndham London–Chelsea Harbour and is the first stage in the company’s strategy to acquire flagship properties in key international and gateway cities.

Steven Rudnitsky, Wyndham Hotel Group president and chief executive officer, said: “London is Europe’s economic hub and one of the largest feeder markets in the world. The addition of The Wyndham London–Chelsea Harbour establishes our position as a global hospitality company and demonstrates the strength of the Wyndham brand.”

He added the group intends to, “fully leverage the hotel’s premier status by augmenting its restaurant, bar and spa amenities”.

Wyndham Hotel Group is part of Wyndham Worldwide which has a portfolio of around 6,500 hotels worldwide.
