General managers appointed at top London hotels

Two top general manager positions in London have been filled this week.

Frenchman Philippe Leboeuf will be the new general manager of Claridge's, while Peter Beckwith will take on the head role at Hilton's Waldorf hotel.

Leboeuf , who starts his new role at the Maybourne Hotel Group property next month, was most recently vice-president of operations at Rosewood Hotels in Dallas.

A graduate of Cornell University in the USA and fluent in English, French, Italian and Spanish, he had management stints before Claridge's which included Le Crillon in Paris and the Carlyle in New York. Leboeuf said: "Claridge's is recognised internationally as one of the best hotels in the world."

Meanwhile, taking over from Amanda Scott, Beckwith, 44, started his new position at the Waldorf on Monday (18 June). He was previously in hotel management with InterContinental in the Middle East and the UK, planning the InterContinental Park Lane's multimillion pound refurbishment and most recently as general manager of the Thistle Marble Arch.

And finally outside London Kenneth Sharp has taken over from William Boulton-Smith as hotel manager of Stapleford Park in Leicestershire, returning to the property after spells in hotels in the Middle East.
