New lease for award-winning Cardiff restaurant(29 June 2007 10:57)The owners of restaurants in Newbury and Reading have snapped up the award-winning Gilby’s restaurant in Cardiff. Mike Standerline and Xavier Le-Bellego - who already own the Red House in Newbury and Forbury’s in Reading – have bought a new lease on the Welsh restaurant from owner and chef Anthony Armelin, who established the restaurant a decade ago. The two AA-rosette restaurant, which is housed in an 18th-century converted barn and majors on seafood-influenced dishes, has won many accolades, including AA Restaurant of the Year 2006 for Wales and a Michelin Bib Gourmand rating for three consecutive years. It is located in Culverhouse Cross to the west of the city centre and borders a 20-acre site on which ITV Wales hopes to build its Wales Media Park. Article continues below
The restaurant can seat 110 diners inside and another 30 outside. Owners’ accommodation to the rear includes a galleried bedroom, bathroom and kitchen. The Bristol office of Christie + Co sold the lease off an advertised asking price of £295,000. Source: CatererSearch |
