Malmaison and Hotel du Vin chains up for sale at £450m
Marylebone Warwick Balfour, the property group, has appointed advisors to sell its Malmaison and Hotel du Vin assets for more than £450m following the collapse of the of the sale to Vector Hospitality. – The Times, 30 June

Brake Bros sold for £1.4b
Brake Bros, the British food distribution company, has been bought by US private equity group Bain Capital for an estimated £1.4b. Bain beat off competition from a consortium of Blackstone and Aurigo, the bid vehicle of former Asda chief executive Archie Norman, as well as UK private equity groups CVC and Cinven. – Daily Telegraph, 30 June

Edinburgh restaurateur to triple size of restaurant
Tony Singh, the Edinburgh chef and restaurateur, is to triple the size of his fashionable Indian restaurant Roti with a move to Edinburgh's business district to the site of the now-defunct restaurant Rogue in July. – Scotland on Sunday, 1 July

12 Hilton hotels sold after Vector collapse
Royal Bank of Scotland is understood to have agreed the sale of 15 hotels, including 12 Hiltons, to Robson Asset Management. The hotels, which were to have been sold to Vector Hospitality, are changing hands for slightly more than £1.1b. – The Times, 30 June

Garfunkel’s directors in share-buying spree
The value of The Restaurant Group, the company behind restaurant chains Frankie & Benny's and Garfunkel's has more than tripled in the past four years and last week eight directors and senior managers spent a combined £150,000 on buying shares, following a similar mass purchase in March. – Scotland on Sunday, 1 July
