Industry data: TRI HotStats - monthly European hotel figures

(11 July 2007 11:56)
2007

Hotels in Moscow showed the most dramatic growth in profitability in May 2007 of the 10 European cities listed in the monthly Europe HotStats survey from TRI Hospitality Consulting.

They boosted revenue per available room by 45.1% and average room rate by 37.4% to €250.62 – the highest in the survey.

However, occupancy in Moscow hotels (at 68.1%) were the lowest reported in May 2007 and this helped London hotels top the revpar table with an achieved €170.97, compared to €170.73 in Moscow

Moscow’s ability to push up room rate may come under pressure over the next three years as 18 new hotels with an estimated 6,000 bedrooms are due to come on-stream, predominantly in the upmarket sector.

Hotels in Paris, Amsterdam and Vienna (which achieved the second highest revpar increase, of 16.5%) were the strongest revpar performers after London and Moscow.

The lowest revpars were found in Germany (Munich, Hamburg and Berlin) and the East European cities of Budapest and Prague.
