Irish bankers Gerry and Kathy Brown have bought the food-led Old Quay House Inn with rooms at Hayle in Cornwall, which was on the market when they holidayed there.
 
The inn occupies 1.2 acres of land at Griggs Quay, at the end of the Hayle tidal estuary and mid-way between Hayle and the village of Lelant. It overlooks the famous bird sanctuary and is near the popular resort of St Ives.
 
Food represents 67% of trade, with wet sales and accommodation accounting for the remaining 23% and 10% of sales respectively.

Along with nine letting bedrooms (and a two-bedroom penthouse with lounge-diner for the owners), the business includes a 50-seat lounge bar, 60-seat conservatory restaurant, 90-seat lounge and family bar area, and 30-seat balcony.

The extensive lawned gardens provide a trade patio with seating for another 120 customers
