New owners for Eton restaurant(01 August 2007 16:55)Tiger Garden, a quality Indian restaurant with a prime high street location in the Berkshire town of Eton, has changed hands. New owner Raj Hussain of Sunny Properties Enterprise – which also runs a hotel in Crewe – plans to rebrand the business, which will continue to focus on Indian cuisine. Interesting features include one of the few remaining cockpits in the UK (the inn hosted cockfights frequented by Charles II in the 17th century), the Sun Insurance Co mark on the front door, original stocks to the front of the building and the earliest (and still working) Victorian post box in England. The 70-seat ground floor restaurant with two bar areas is on the ground floor while the first floor adds two private dining or function rooms that can hold up to 12 or 20 guests, along with 10 staff bedrooms.
