Tiger Garden, a quality Indian restaurant with a prime high street location in the Berkshire town of Eton, has changed hands.

New owner Raj Hussain of Sunny Properties Enterprise – which also runs a hotel in Crewe – plans to rebrand the business, which will continue to focus on Indian cuisine.
 
The timbered building, which dates back to 1420, has a prime High Street location just 100 yards from the Windsor and Eton Bridge across the River Thames and faces Windsor Castle on the opposite bank. It is just 20 miles west from the City of London.

Interesting features include one of the few remaining cockpits in the UK (the inn hosted cockfights frequented by Charles II in the 17th century), the Sun Insurance Co mark on the front door, original stocks to the front of the building and the earliest (and still working) Victorian post box in England.

The 70-seat ground floor restaurant with two bar areas is on the ground floor while the first floor adds two private dining or function rooms that can hold up to 12 or 20 guests, along with 10 staff bedrooms.
 
To the rear are an enclosed paved courtyard and a landscaped garden to seat 100 customers.

The Milton Keynes office of Christie + Co sold the freehold off an asking price of £1.2m on behalf of Abdul Rob.
