Brits spend £188m on hotel mini-bars(06 August 2007 12:30)Brits spend £188m a year on hotel mini-bars, splashing out an average £17.29 every time they stay in a hotel, research has revealed. The survey by Hotels.com found that only 12% of Britons felt that mini-bars were reasonably priced and, as a result, they spend far less than other Europeans. The Spanish led the survey buying on average £23.86 on mini-bar purchases. The Germans came in second spending £22.97 while the French were third spending £18.93. The most popular items were soft drinks and mineral water with 77% of those surveyed admitting buying food and drink outside of the hotel to consume in their rooms.
