Marco Pierre White to be new patron at Hoxton Apprentice

Marco Pierre White is in talks to become the new patron of the Hoxton Apprentice, Caterer has learnt.

The former three-Michelin-starred chef-turned-restaurateur is in discussions to replace Prue Leith at the London restaurant, which gives unemployed young people the opportunity to gain qualifications through working in a functioning establishment.

Founder Gordon d'Silva said: "Marco has agreed in principle to become the patron and help us shape the Hoxton Apprentice brand both on a national and international level."

White's appointment forms part of plans to roll out the Hoxton Apprentice training scheme across the country, with the first of a series of bistros likely to be located near Putney Bridge in south-west London.

It is also developing a new restaurant in Dartmouth, on the site of an abandoned church, which is set to open in April next year.

Despite teaching celebrities on Hell's Kitchen how to kill and cook langoustines, Marco Pierre White has also taken time out to chat with us about the programme and his editorship of Caterer and Hotelkeeper, so check out our exclusive interview below and pick up this week's issue of Caterer for more on Hell's Kitchen and Marco Pierre White's take on the hospitality industry.
