Aramark to cater at all HBOS sites
Contract caterer Aramark has been awarded the multimillion-pound deal to cater for staff at banking giant HBOS just months after winning a prestigious BBC catering contract.
Caterer has learnt that Aramark has taken over the running of all HBOS's catering services, a contract previously split between itself and rival Sodexho.
HBOS, which was formed from the merger of Bank of Scotland and the Halifax in 2001, has 65,000 employees in the UK, with its corporate headquarters in Edinburgh.
Although HBOS and Aramark declined to comment on the details of the deal, estimates put the size of the contract at about 25 sites and upwards of £20m turnover a year.
John Durrell, head of HBOS procurement, said: "We're delighted with our new relationship with Aramark. Not only is this an important service for every HBOS employee but it marks an evolution in how we at HBOS are working closely with our key suppliers."
In July Aramark won the catering contract at the BBC in London, thought to be worth about £15m a year in turnover, taking it over from Compass Group's Eurest. This followed a £38m deal with HMS Nelson and the Portsmouth Naval Base in April and a £58.4m contract with the Ministry of Defence in East Anglia at the start of the year.
