RoadChef appoints new chief executive
Motorway services operator RoadChef has appointed Simon Turl, managing director of the UK travel concessions division at caterer Select Service Partners (SSP), as chief executive.
Turl, who takes up his new role in November, replaces RoadChef interim chief executive Richard Hunt who leaves the business at the end of the month.
Turl, on secondment from Compass Group, was chief executive of sector skills council (SSC) People 1st at its launch in May 2004.
However, he left months after People 1st's official launch as the secondment came to an end and became managing director of the airports and marine division of SSP, which was then part of Compass Group.
Ilik Rozanski, president of Delek Belron International, which paid Nikko Principal Investments £425m for Roadchef in March this year, said: "I am delighted that Simon is joining us. Simon has worked in the UK hospitality industry for 30 years and brings to RoadChef a wealth of experience and specialist knowledge of the travel sector."
SSP was sold to private-equity firm EQT in April 2006 for an estimated £1.2b.
