The Swan Inn near Hungerford in Berkshire and London healthy fast-food chain Leon have taken this year’s top honours in the RSPCA Good Business Awards.

The Swan Inn triumphed in the independent category of the Good Business Awards while Leon took the group accolade.

London’s Cubana Bar & Restaurant and sushi chain Moshi Moshi won innovation accolades for their commitment to improving animal welfare.

RSPCA head of external affairs David Bowles said: “It is truly gratifying to see the steps all of the finalists are taking to ensure that the welfare of the animals throughout their supply chain is intrinsic to their business model.

“The Swan Inn and Leon shone in particular this year but all the entrants should be applauded for responding to consumer demand and striving to improve the status quo.”

The Good Business Awards were set up by the RSPCA three years ago to encourage restaurants and retailers to adopt animal welfare-friendly policies.
