Suffolk brewer and pub operator Adnams has put nine of its pubs in East Anglia up for sale following a review of its 80 strong estate.

The review, intended to improve the quality of the Adams estate, will see the company focus on pubs that focus on cask beer with a good food offering.

Rupert Farquharson director of retail at Adnams said: “Our strategy at Adnams is to develop a pub estate that reflects the underlying values of the Adnams brand. The combination of great beer, wine and food is something in which Adnams specialises.

“We are working closely with our tenants to develop strong, sustainable businesses best placed to serve today’s consumers. The small number of pubs we are putting on the market will be ideal for other pub operators.”

The pubs are being put on the market by property agent Christie & Co.

Anthony Jenkins, associate director of corporate pubs at the agent, said: “Opportunities to acquire pubs of this quality are extremely rare and they are likely to appeal to a large number of pub operating companies, breweries and other retailers.”
