First-time pub buyers Gary and Becky Evans have snapped up the award-winning Stackpole Inn freehouse in the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park for close to the £825,000 asking price.

The food-led inn occupies a Grade II-listed stone property that originated as two 17th century cottages in the village of Stackpole, which is a 15-minute walk from the coastal path and just five miles from the local beaches.
 
It comprises five bar and dining areas to seat 90 customers, four en-suite bedrooms with a four-star rating, a three-bedroom owners’ apartment, and gardens with a trade car park and seating for another 40 customers.
 
Food accounts for 64% of trade, followed by wet sales (26%) and accommodation (10%). The inn was the Morning Advertiser’s  Best Food Pub Wales in both 2005 and 2006 and holds the Pembrokeshire Food Mark for its use of local produce.

 
The Bristol office of Christie + Co sold the freehold within six weeks of marketing the property on behalf of Chris and Kim Jewell, who are moving to France.
