Adnams scoops National Business Award
Adnams, the East Anglian brewer and pub operator was the only hospitality victor award at last night's National Business Awards, winning the corporate social responsibility award.
Judges praised its "socially and environmentally friendly approach to business" and its long-term investment in sustainable and local community policies.
They also commended the company's distribution facilities on the outskirts of Southwold, Suffolk, which have been built to the "highest environment specifications".
The new facilities have delivered energy savings of £49,000 while changes in beer packaging has reduced Adnams carbon emissions by 415 tonnes per year.
The National Business Awards were held in London's Grosvenor House Hotel last night just a short stroll up Park Lane from last night's Hotel Cateys at the Hilton.
Adnams beat Caterer adopted business Peach Pub Company (which will make its first appearance in the 22 November edition of Caterer) as well as Caterer's parent company Reed Elsevier, which was also on the shortlist.
