Montgreenan Mansion House hotel, an award-winning three-star Georgian property in Scotland, has been sold off an asking price of £1.5m.

The hotel – which scooped the Scottish Hospitality Hotel of the Year accolade in 2006 – occupies 48 acres of land in the North Ayrshire town of Kilwinning.

It was built in 1817 by Doctor Robert Glasgow as a family home and retains many architectural features by prominent Glaswegian architect Alexander Greek Thomson.

Along with 21 en-suite bedrooms, the hotel offers four function rooms in the form of the 4-to-60-seat restaurant, the library, the private dining room and the 110-capacity drawing room.

There is also a snooker room, a bar area, and a mini golf course and tennis courts – with more than 30 golf courses, including the world-famous Turnberry, within a 30-minute drive.

The new owners are hoteliers Tan Veer Indamer and Lidia Dancu.

The Glasgow office of Christie + Co sold the freehold to a private overseas buyer on behalf of Hugh and Eileen Wilson.
