Is alcohol costing you more than money?
When someone is developing a problem with alcohol, there are usually "tell-tale signs" which are beginning to show in their lives. How can you tell whether you or someone close to you may have a problem? Please take a moment to look at the following questions and answer them as honestly as possible.
• Have you felt that you should cut down on your drinking?
• Have people annoyed you by criticising your drinking?
• Have you ever felt guilty or uncomfortable about your drinking?
• Have you ever had a drink early in the day to steady your nerves or cure a hangover?
If you answered yes to one or more of these questions it is likely that a problem exists. You may be developing alcohol dependence if you:
• Need to drink regularly
• Drink alone
• Hide drink in the home, workplace or car
• Need a drink to stop trembling (the shakes)
• Drink early in the day
• Often have a craving to drink alcohol
• Avoid social activities that do not involve drinking
If you feel that any of the above applies to you, help is available. Speak in confidence to your manager or call one of the following:
