Michelin-starred Greenhouse restaurant to close for refurbishment

(20 December 2007 14:30)

The Greenhouse restaurant in London is to shut next month for a major refurbishment.

The Michelin-starred restaurant in Mayfair will close for January to undergo an interior refit overseen by London-based architect and design consultancy Virgile & Stone.

The group has been briefed to develop a contemporary new design for the restaurant that will both draw on its “serene” location and complement its modern French cuisine by head chef Antonin Bonnet.

It will reopen in February but its reservations office will remain open for the duration of the closure.

The Greenhouse is owned Marlon Abela who acquired it in 2003.

Bonnet joined the restaurant at the beginning of last year replacing former head chef Bjorn van der Horst, who left to join Gordon Ramsay Holdings.

Bonnet was previously executive chef at private members' club Morton's, also owned by Abela.

The Greenhouse first won a Michelin-star in 1996 when Gary Rhodes was head chef.
