Brighton's Momma Cherri's goes into administration
The Brighton restaurant hailed as Gordon Ramsay's biggest Kitchen Nightmares success story has gone into administration.
Momma Cherri's, which featured on Ramsay's Channel 4 show three years ago, has gone under with debts of £200,000.
The restaurant's owner, Charita Jones, claimed she had been a victim of her own success after expanding her original Soul Shack into Momma Cherri's Big House, employing 30 staff.
"It was bigger and better and I just wanted to be able to feed as many people as I could," she said.
However, the £7,000-a-month lease for the expanded five-floor premises proved crippling and he was finally forced to close the restaurant over Christmas.
But it is not all bad news as the restaurant will stay in the family with Jones' 28-year old daughter Katryna set to re-open Momma Cherri's on Saturday after reaching an agreement with the administrators.
