Cater Link wins Islington school meals contract
Cater Link, a division of contract caterer Baxter Storey, has won the school meals contract for the London Borough of Islington.
The caterer, which will take over the school meals contract from September, replaces Compass Group's Scolarest.
Cater Link has proposed a menu that will consist of 90% fresh food, and be repeated no more than once every six weeks. Menus will also be seasonal and extra training for catering staff will be provided.
Islington councillor Ursula Wooley said: "When we were looking at contenders to provide school meals from September, we considered what parents, pupils and schools told us they wanted. That's why we've picked Cater Link, who use locally sourced produce to create varied, healthy and enjoyable meals.
In January 2006 Cater Link replaced Scolarest as Camden in London's school meals provider.
