Latest NewsSearch for next top young chef begins(23 January 2008 16:41)The search for Britain and Ireland’s new top young chef has begun with the launch of the 2008 Robbie Millar Scholarship. Set up in memory of the Michelin-starred chef, the scholarship – now in its second year - aims to help young chefs get recognised and work with the world’s greatest food and wine experts. Last year’s winner, Chris McClurg, took the opportunity to learn at some of the most prestigious restaurants and vineyards in London and France. The eight finalists will be required to cook a three-course menu from a basket of mystery ingredients and match from a selection of wines at the South West College of Further and Higher Education in Dungannon on 8 April. James Nicholson, a member of the judging panel in 2007, said: “The training and prizes on offer, coupled with the constant support from the greatest chefs and wine producers, puts the scholarship in a class of its own." Entrants must be aged 23 or under on 25 March.
