Compass gains second Michelin star
Contract caterer Compass Group has added a second Michelin star to its collection.
The company said it was "delighted "that its joint-venture with Gary Rhodes, Rhodes W1 at the Cumberland hotel in London, had been awarded its first Michelin star.
Meanwhile, Rhodes's other joint-venture with Compass-owned Restaurant Associates, Rhodes 24 at Tower 42 in the City, retained its Michelin star.
Jason Leek, managing director of Restaurant Associates, said: "I am absolutely delighted with the award of these Michelin stars, particularly for Rhodes W1, where to gain a Michelin accreditation in less than a year of opening is truly outstanding."
Gary Rhodes added: "I was just hoping to retain the star at Rhodes 24 and didn't expect to gain a second star for Rhodes W1 so I am absolutely delighted.
"While this is my sixth star in 20 years, I feel that every star is a new accomplishment and I am proud to have achieved such a high level of consistency.
