Hilton to open hotel near Heathrow's T5

Hilton Hotels Corporation has signed a deal for a new hotel close to Heathrow Airport's new Terminal 5.

Set to open in 2010, the 350-room hotel will be run under a 20-year franchise by Shiva Hotels. It is the fourth in a 2007 agreement signed between the two groups to open 15 new properties.

John Philip, regional vice-president of operations at Hilton, said: "The Heathrow deal takes total capital committed to the development of the Hilton brand in London to more that $500m (£250m) in the past two years, putting us well on track to double the UK and Ireland estate to 150 hotels in the next five to 10 years."

In addition to the Heathrow development, Hilton plans to introduce its North American brands Hilton Garden Inn, Hampton Inn by Hilton and Doubletree by Hilton in the UK. The first property operating under the family of brands, Hilton Garden Inn Luton, will open in May this year.
