Local experienced hoteliers Chris and Fiona Daly have bought Prince Hall hotel, a two-star Duchy hotel in Two Bridges, Yelverton, in Devon.

The Grade II-listed Georgian building, which was built in 1787, operated as a hotel as far back as 1906 but has spent much of the 20th century as a private residence owned by Lord and Lady Astor.

The south-facing country house hotel, which occupies a five-acre site near the centre of the Dartmoor National Park, is just half a mile from the Ashburton to Tavistock Road.

Facilites include nine en-suite bedrooms to sleep 17, a residents’ sitting room, a bar-lounge with a black marble fireplace, and a 24-seat restaurant.

There is scope (and consent) to develop one of two stone barns into self-catering units or an owner’s house.

The Plymouth office of Colliers Robert Barry sold the leasehold off a guide price of £575,000 on behalf of John and Anne Grove.

The Daly’s have separately taken on a Duchy leasehold tenancy on a four-bedroom house with a two-acre paddock just off the approach driveway to the hotel at £560 per month.
