Corinthia to open first hotel in Liverpool
Corinthia Hotels International (CHI) is to open its first hotel in Liverpool, with the launch of a Ramada Plaza property in June 2010.
The four-star hotel will form the centre-piece of the £100m The Quarter scheme, a development that will feature a 22-storey residential tower, office accommodation, retail and leisure space and a new public square.
The 173-room property, which will be aimed at corporate and high-end leisure customers, will include a fine-dining restaurant, spa and state of the art business centre with conference facilities.
Mark Connor, chief executive of Vermont Developments, the developer of The Quarter, described the deal as a "major milestone" for the scheme.
"Ramada Plaza is one of the world's foremost hotel brands and to secure such a prestigious hotel operator as CHI is a testament to the quality of the scheme and Liverpool's growing international reputation."
Tony Potter, chief executive officer of CHI added: "We are thrilled to be bringing the upscale Ramada Plaza Brand to Liverpool for the first time in collaboration with Vermont, adding to our ever growing international presence."
