Fire rips through Glasgow bars

Four bars in Glasgow's West End have been severely damaged after a fire started in the kitchen of the Cul de Sac bar and restaurant as staff prepared for the lunchtime rush on Saturday.

The fire spread to nearby sites the Loft, Nude and Radio which have all been severely damaged by the fire. The roof of the Loft partially collapsed as a result of the blaze.

All sites will now be closed until fire investigation teams can determine the exact cause of the blaze.

All four sites are expected to be out of action for some time with extensive refurbishment work required.

Diners were also evacuated from the nearby Ubiquitous Chip restaurant, on Ashton Lane in the heart of Glasgow's West End, amid concerns that the fire would spread further.
